Our venue

Borgo di Pietrafitta Relais
Pietrafitta, 46, 53011 Castellina in Chianti (SI), Italia

Nestled in the rolling Tuscan hills, Borgo di Pietrafitta is a historic village in the heart of Chianti, surrounded by vineyards, centuries-old olive trees and winding country paths.

With origins dating back to the Etruscan period, Pietrafitta has a rich history shaped by the generations who have lived and worked on this land. During the Middle Ages, the village developed as an agricultural settlement and became associated with the Via Francigena, the historic pilgrimage route that connected northern Europe with Rome. Over the centuries, its stone buildings and surrounding countryside have retained the character of traditional Tuscan life.

Today, the village's ancient stone houses, historic architecture and beautiful natural surroundings have been carefully preserved, creating a peaceful retreat that captures the timeless charm of the Tuscan countryside.

We feel incredibly lucky to be celebrating our wedding in such a special setting, and we can't wait to share it with you all. Some of you will be familiar with this venue (if so we look forward to welcoming you back!)

Travel recommendations

Recommended Flight Options

For the Brits: there are direct flights from both Heathrow and Gatwick to Pisa (Galileo Galilei International Airport), or direct flights from Heathrow to Florence (Amerigo Vespucci Airport).

For the Aussies: there are currently no direct flights from Australia to Tuscany, so we would recommend flying into Rome or another major European airport before connecting to either Florence or Pisa.

Distance from Main Airports

Florence1 hour
Pisa1h 30

Taxis will be available from the airport, however there is limited taxi service around the Borgo. We would recommend hiring a car from the airport and driving to the Borgo so that you are able to explore the local Tuscan towns nearby during your downtime!

Accommodation

For guests staying at the Borgo

We will be arranging accommodation on-site at the Borgo for most of our guests. We can also arrange additional accommodation at the villa 5 minutes down the road.

The accommodation at the Borgo is a mix of hotel rooms and apartments, which will be cleaned daily throughout your stay.

As the accommodation at the Borgo is limited, we kindly ask that you RSVP as soon as possible indicating if you would like to stay on-site with us. We will follow up with the payment details for your accommodation.

Request a room in your RSVP

For guests not staying at the Borgo

If you won't be staying on-site with us, or if you will be spending some extra time in the region before or after the wedding, use our booking assistant to find hotels near our venue, or see the places nearby below.

We kindly ask that you arrange your own transport to and from the Borgo for the events, as we will not be operating a shuttle service.

Frequently asked questions

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by [deadline TBC]. The sooner the better if you'd like a room at the Borgo!

How do I get there?

You will need to fly into either Pisa or Florence airport. From either airport, the best way to reach the venue is by car or transfer. Taxis are very limited in the area as the Borgo is remote, so you will need to pre-book taxi transfers if you are not hiring a car. You can find full details in the travel section.

Can I bring a gift?

You making the effort is more than we could ask for. However if you would like to gift us something, we've put together a small registry with some of our most wished-for items. See the registry.

Where should I park?

There is plenty of free parking at the Borgo.

Are kids welcome?

Whilst we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the three days. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time so you can celebrate with us.

What will the weather be like?

It's Euro summer baby! The weather at that time of year should be amazing, with temperatures ranging from around 18°C to 28°C. If it gets too hot, there is a lovely infinity pool at your disposal throughout your stay to cool off and relax!

What should I wear?

The dress code for each event is in our what to wear section. The wedding day is black tie: gentlemen, that means a black tuxedo and bow tie, not a suit. For the rest of your stay just relax, it's your holiday too!

Can I bring a plus one?

Unfortunately, due to limited numbers at the Borgo, our celebration is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your wedding invitation.

Is it okay to take pictures during the wedding?

We kindly ask that there are no phones or photos during the ceremony itself. Apart from this, take as many photos as you wish and share them with us so that we can keep the memories.

What food and drink will be included during our stay?

Breakfast will be included during the wedding weekend. We will be serving light snacks at the welcome aperitivo and the wedding dinner will be catered.

You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks to enjoy by the pool. There will be plastic glasses provided in the pool house. Please no glass by the pool at any time.

Some of the villas at the Borgo are equipped with kitchenettes. If you are staying in one of the villas we would recommend stopping by the local supermarket (5 minute drive) and picking up some supplies for your stay.

The pool house will be stocked with water, soft drinks, beers, wine and prosecco during the wedding weekend, which you are welcome to help yourselves to anytime. Please be mindful that this is to be shared between all guests for the duration of the 3 days.

If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know on your RSVP.
